This handcrafted saya features a Kanshitsu Kuro-ishime-nuri (黒石目塗) finish—a traditional black lacquer surface textured with fine stone-like granules. Unlike glossy lacquer styles, the ishime technique creates a matte, tactile appearance that evokes the natural resilience of stone. The effect is dignified, understated, and durable, making it highly prized for both functional mounts and refined aesthetics.

The koiguchi (mouth), kurigata (cord knob), and kojiri (end cap) are crafted from polished natural horn, ensuring structural strength and organic beauty. Each saya is individually handmade, guaranteeing precision, visual balance, and lasting durability.
