Refund policy

Our return policy allows for returns within 30 days of receiving your order. To be eligible, items must be in their original condition—unused, with all original tags attached, and in the original packaging. A receipt or valid proof of purchase is required to complete the return request.

To start a return, you can contact us at tanggu@swordsmith.com.au. We’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Please return the package as soon as possible once the return is approved, or we reserve the right to reject the return. A restocking fee or transaction fee may apply.

Damages and issues 

We kindly ask that you inspect your order immediately upon receipt. If you receive an item that is defective, damaged, or incorrect, please contact us without delay so that we can promptly assess the issue and provide an appropriate resolution. In order to assist you efficiently, we may request photographs or other supporting documentation to help us accurately identify the problem and offer the best solution.

Please be advised that katana blades must be kept dry and maintained regularly to preserve their condition. Blades made of carbon steel, in particular, contain a higher carbon content, which enhances their hardness and sharpness. However, this also makes them more vulnerable to rust when exposed to moisture and oxygen. As such, proper maintenance is essential—this includes keeping the blade dry and applying anti-rust oil on a routine basis.

If you notice any rust on the blade upon delivery, please contact us promptly so we can assist you. We will address the matter in accordance with our policies. However, please note that we are unable to accept returns or issue refunds for rust or corrosion that results from inadequate environmental storage or improper maintenance after delivery. Should you require guidance on rust removal or blade care, our team will be happy to provide support.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Please note that we do not accept returns or offer refunds for custom orders (including items with engraving or personalization) or gift cards. If you have any questions about your order, feel free to contact us.

Exchanges
The most efficient way to receive your desired item is to return the original product. Once the return is approved, you may place a new order separately for the replacement item.

European Union 14 day cooling off period

If your order is being shipped to a country within the European Union, you are entitled to cancel or return your purchase within 14 days of delivery, for any reason and without the need to provide justification.

Therefore, we kindly ask EU customers not to place custom orders (items with engraving or personalisation).

Refunds

Once we have received and inspected your returned item, we will notify you of the outcome. If your return is approved, a refund will be issued to your original payment method within 3 business days. Please note that initial shipping costs are non-refundable, and customers are responsible for return shipping fees, unless the return is due to a defective or incorrect item. It may also take additional time for your bank or credit card provider to process and post the refund.
