This handcrafted saya is a Black Rayskin–Wrapped Saya (黒鮫皮包鞘), featuring a deep black finish that adds distinctive texture and visual depth, providing a refined yet powerful alternative to conventional lacquer-only saya. The black tone conveys strength, restraint, and formality, while preserving the understated aesthetics of traditional craftsmanship.

The koiguchi (mouth), kurigata (cord knob), and kojiri (end cap) are crafted from polished natural horn, ensuring structural integrity alongside organic beauty. Each saya is individually handmade, guaranteeing precise proportions, visual harmony, and long-term durability. The overall impression is composed, robust, and elegant—ideal for mounting as part of a complete koshirae, or appreciated on its own as a finely executed traditional sword fitting.

The wrap may be made of either Imitation Rayskin or Genuine Rayskin (Samegawa), depending on selection.

This saya is suitable for a katana blade with a blade length of 71 cm, motohaba of 3.2 cm, motokasane of 0.7 cm, and sori of 1.7 cm. For other dimensions, please select the Saya Customization option for custom fitting.
